Today at around 6:15 PM, just before Iftar time here, I went to this small grocery shop, I have been there couple of times before. I just wanted to get some water, was in my way to the prayers since I stay there until
تراويح is over
(I can`t fast so I make an effort to kind of compensate)
As I went in, I noticed the strong evident smell of a cigarette! I was shocked to say the least. It was the 1st time I witness such a thing here in KSA. “if this happened in Jordan I wouldn`t be much surprised, furious just the same though”.
I acted normal, got my water and went to give the man his money + piece of my mind! They were 2 actually but one of them popped out
I looked him in the eye and told him not to do it again; he just nodded in agreement without saying a word
As I went to our car I just had this blend of emotions, I didn`t know whether I felt sorry for myself, or for him, or may be that I should`ve dealt with it differently, I felt sort of alone! Thinking that there is this person who simply isn`t fasting and that I would do almost anything to be able to, it was a roller coaster of feelings indeed and I didn`t know which was the overwhelming one
I`m not sure but I guess I shall pay the man another visit shortly, may be just may be to know if he is a Muslim or not at least
Funny thing that earlier today, I wrote Rain asking her to excuse me from writing about what Ramadan means to me, as she tagged me on the subject. And besides, I wrote some lines last week on my wordpress blog
I was explaining to her that it would be a sad post and it might be better to let it go. But what you know, ha!
I`m headed before long to continue
تراويح prayers,
there is this amazing Imam here, a man who is extraordinary in so many ways that I feel joy being where he is. I just love him :)
Just to give you a taste of last night`s prayers:
I have been meaning to talk about him but that`s another post for another day :)
